It is the responsibility of a business to remain in compliance with the health insurance laws of California. This can be quite tricky especially when changes are constantly made to the policies listed in the ACA. As of now, any business with 50 or more full-time employees that does not provide group health insurance will be penalized every month under the employer mandate. This financial penalty is 1/12 of $2,000 per every employee with the exception of the first 30 employees. So if your business has 50 employees and you were charged with the Employer Shared Responsibility payment, you’ll owe a little over $3,300 that month and every month until the right group health insurance is purchased.
