Employer Shared Responsibility – Companies with more than 50 full-time employees stand to face the biggest challenges when it comes to providing employer sponsored health plans. (Full-time equivalent employees–those that average 30 hours per week–also count against the number of workers under new health care law.) Starting in 2016, businesses must pay a fine if employees are not offered an affordable health plan that meets the standards of the Affordable Care Act. For larger companies, managing the costs of benefits and health care coverage will become increasingly important in the coming years.
